Parent Resources

  • The Council of the Great City Schools
Parent Roadmaps to the Common Core Standards- Mathematics
The Council of the Great City Schools' parent roadmaps in mathematics provide guidance to parents about what their children will be learning and how they can support that learning in grades K-8. These parent roadmaps for each grade level also provide three-year snapshots showing how selected standards progress from year to year so that students will be college and career ready upon their graduation from high school.

  • There are a lot of opinions and publications about the role of the Gates Foundation to promote Common Core Standards, The Council of the Great City Schools has received money from the foundation. There is a view that the Common Core Standards are being implemented without any supporting data, without any field testing, without any parent input, legislature support, and with little input from experienced educators that are not on the payroll of publishers or those pushing the privatization of the country's education system. Parents are encouraged to conduct their own research on how there local school district has determined whether to adopt the Common Core Standards. It is also worth investigating how a national student database will be used and the privacy of students protected or exploited.
