The Common Core Standards for Mathematics define the conceptual cateogies which are used to drive the content for the Algebra I course. The Common Core Standards do not dictate specific course requirements nor a specific sequence of courses, but they do provide models which can be adopted by states; most states develop model courses from the common core course models. The units that are listed in this Algebra I course are derived from the state model from Massachusetts and the sequence summarized from many Algebra I textbooks. The outline for this course also includes topics that are generally still part of Algebra I high school courses but will be pushed down to the middle school grades when common core is fully implemented.
